Remember way back, and it’s possible I’m about to severely date myself, when you would be working on your computer and suddenly a whoosh sound happened and a notification that stated, “You’ve Got Mail!”?
Yeah, those were the days when that whooshing didn’t happen 242 times every hour, and every email you got landed right in front of your face in your inbox.
Let’s fast forward a few years.
In 2022, there’s been a term in the email marketing world that’s been coming up more and more often.
Deliverability.
In my mind, it’s like when you hear or see the You’ve Got Mail notification, it actually says, You’ve Got Mail In Your Inbox That You Really Want To See.
The fact of the matter is email is just as much a slave to the algorithms as social media content is. But what I love about email is that the algorithm is pretty easy to figure out and doesn’t require eons of time to make it work for you.
BUT…
In order to make that time you spend on emails worth it, you do need to be mindful of the algorithm in order to get your emails delivered. Because who doesn’t want their email to land in an inbox? Heck, some days I’ll just be happy with an email landing. Period.
Side note: there is a very real chance your emails are leaving your inbox and never getting delivered to your reader’s inboxes. The algorithm is deciding to make them undeliverable based on any number of things.
In 2022, a lot of things are changing in the digital marketing world. The algorithms are getting smarter and that means that they’re getting better at delivering a user experience that is very customized.
For email marketing, that means it’s going to be harder to get your emails out of the promotions tab or even worse, the dreaded spam folder.
But there are things you can do to give your emails the best chance of survival.
One of them is to use Mailerlite to send your emails.
Imagine you have a ranking number and everything you do contributes or takes away from your ranking. But there is one thing that’s out of your control when it comes to your ranking and that’s the ranking of your email service provider.
Some are ranked high and others are ranked very low. (I’m looking at you Mailchimp.) But the kicker is, this is always changing and no one really knows all of the points that go into the ranking, but everyone knows the one thing that can make or break a platform and that’s…
you guessed it…DELIVERABILITY.
And guess who was ranked #1 for deliverability last quarter (Q4 2021)?
The second was ConvertKit!
The two email systems I use to deliver emails are ConvertKit and Mailerlite.
When you use an email service provider that is hyper-focused on getting their clients the best deliverability score they can, it makes getting your own emails into inboxes a tiny bit easier.
There may be times when you’re very frustrated with your email service provider, regardless of who they are. This is 2022. Tech can fail, businesses all have bad days. But when you choose an email service provider that fits your needs and budget AND they’re ranked in the top 5 for deliverability? You’re giving your emails their best chance at landing right in front of your reader.
